12/24 - sing a hym (print or read lyrics online. OPTIONAL stream and rent the movie The Nativity Story.)

We don't watch a lot of movies or tv in our family and are very careful before showing anything to our children. That being said, my husband and I both really enjoyed this film telling the nativity story and plan to show it to our own children this year leading up to Christmas! With the exception of very few minor details (one being that an angel never appears to the wise men regarding Herod's true intentions, but rather they seem to grasp it from their own intuition), this story largely follows the Scripture and provides cultural significance and understanding to things like the betrothal agreement and king Herod's fear of the prophecy. If you're looking for a Bible based film to enjoy with your family, this is the one we recommend!
